AK47 Buttstock didn't seat and got stuck!

I'm new to AKs and I decided to swap out the buttstock on my AK from a black polymer to a wood laminate stock. I knew that the new stock would need some fit and finish. However, as I seated the wood stock, it stopped short and is now firmly stuck. I tried leveraging it back out by sticking a screwdriver down into the hole at the front; but, it's not moving and I don't want to bust the tool or break the end of the stock. I'm not sure if I need to go out and get a rubber mallet; though, I'm not sure how well that would work at this point as she's decided she ain't moving. Or perhaps there is another way.

Here's where I'm at right now. Ideas?

Rubber mallet bottom end of stock should work just tap it bottom then top.

You had a good idea using the screwdriver but I would use a hammer to tap the screwdriver against the woodstock out just enough for you to be able to wiggle that thing out. Hope that works.

        UPDATE!

I got it out! After posting, I realized that these things are built like tanks and that I probably didn't need to be all that gentle with it. I'm an Eastern European woman myself; so I decided to show my AK who's boss by whacking the snot out of it against my bed. She complied without needing to go out and buy a rubber mallet.

And.....well....at least I got some use out of my bed for once.

Don't worry. It's in "like new" condition.

if its Russian all AKM and AK74 wood stocks are slightly over sized so they can be fit to each rifle. Same for wood SVD stocks.

It's an American AK with Polish wood laminate furniture. But yeah, I was going to do a little sanding as needed. Unfortunately, I'm now trying to wrench a stuck upper hand guard off of the gas tube. :/

put the back half of the tube in a vice. works a lot easier that way.

That was my next step. I don't have a vice; but, a friend does and he's agreed to help me out tomorrow.
