    Fixed magazine prototype

With all this featureless and raw bs going around I took a different approach in changing my ar15 to having a fixed magazine. I guess I can use my modified mag with the new patriot mag release as of now I'm using a reg bullet button. This is a prototype and still in the works but I took a small video to show how it works. Please feel free to copy or use my idea just don't try to sell it and make money off if it, we calguners need to stick together and help each other out.posting from my phone so I hope everything looks ok. Feedback wanted and sorry for the heavy breathing, I was excited!

I had the same idea but with something like prerecord as the pull down mechanism. Can you load more then 10 rounds?

It will load more than ten due to the magwell being long, it's something I'm messing with and I hope I can fix it. An ak mag should be easier to do. I'd figure I'd post it and maybe us as a gun community can come up with something .

        Great idea.

Your video triggered a thought. Recall a magazine manufacturing company made AR 15 mags that were two piece design - hold by the side and rear and push apart, the follower was pulled all the way to the bottom, compressing the spring and opening the front end. Drop in your rounds, apply pressure and the thing snapped back together. See photo.

If one attached this style magazine (10 rounder of course) with a mag lever that didn't release (a BB with a metal post instead of a spring) then the mag is fixed. To load you just pull down the front, drop in your rounds, tap the bottom and the mag snaps shut.

There's top loading, your side loading - and front loading. Other than buying the mag and 2 cent pin to replace the BB spring - done?

For an ar15 this will need to be a single round stacked magazine, the magwell is too tall to allow side/front/back lading... on the current side by side round holding mags i think the loading hole would be too far down the mag and would allow more then 10 rounds to be loaded.

I think with an ak pistol you must reg as aw regardless of the magazine being fixed or bb.

                  Nope.

This looks like it has a lot of potential. Now if we can just get them to make 10 rounders.

The first rifle I really had the hots for was the Krag-Jorgenson. The old Kittery Trading Post had dozens of them on racks for $19.00 or so and that one could open a side loading gate, drop in 5 loose rounds, then snap it shut and the thing would feed still fascinates me.

I think someone will come up with some kind of "bottom feed" fixed mag for the AR, certainly the AK. Heck, a hole in the back or front edge of the magazine, with a Luger tool and button mag set up, would accomplish the same thing. Makes the gun rather useless for defense but probably OK for the range.

That has real potential. I like it.

Cool I'm on it, I'll try to make one for an ak pistol tomorrow.

I remember seeing one for the ak back in '06. From a short 762 metal mag.
Attach a rod to the follower from the side, make it a lever so you can pull down from the side, cut a slot on the side of the body so you can pull down with the rod, and you also need a selector lever with an notch so you can keep the bolt carrier back.

Also drop ammo into the ejection port.. A giant hole in the side of the mag to load ammo might not be the best design.. I think most designs can be fed ammo from the ejection port. I think it can be done without mag modification but it would be easier to do by compressing the mag spring. I'm even considering a fixed mag bobsled and scope basically bolt action but semi saves time at the range. If everyone had bolt action fewer people would get to shoot because they would take so long.
