same idea with the wrench i see my local sears has one for $80. I'd hate to keep these purchases for just a one time purchase. that leaves me with needing a block....

at this point i'd gladly just pay a local cal gunner to assemble the barrel and upper for me.
And I'm sitting here wondering why Sears and K-Mart and Macy's are going out of business?
Do us all a favor and stick it to Amazon, not your local store. For F's sake!

There's such a thing as a one time purchase when it comes to ARs?

Who's got that kind of self-control?

to be honest, i thought the same, but if you ever want to change out muzzle devices, swap barrels, etc, having the tools make it that much easier/faster

but if you really won't ever work on your AR's again, why not take it to a shop and just pay the small fee to have them do it real quick then?

              Not sure if serious.

I wouldn't help anyone who says and does shady crap like that. And I have pretty low standards.

if renting the tools was a thing i would be all for it but im sorry i cant justify spending $150 on 3 tools ill probably use twice in the lifetime of my one AR.

apparently your standards arent low enough because you being offended that i'd be taking advantage of a Sears' return policy, is laughable.

                    Roger that.

Ask your "gunsmith" if he has any tools that can build character...cheap.

There are more important concerns (or points) for you than whether you need to purchase a tool from Sears that you may only use once.

Until you get to the barrel nut. No good way to grab the upper without risk of damaging something.
I ended up buying an ebay upper vise block and c-clamping it to a sturdy chair(coffee table started flexing way before required torque).

Armorer's wrench help you not mar things. Hell it was only $20 for the wrench and block.

it can be done, but spending the 20 extra bucks will make life a whole lot easier

OP, what handguard did you order? Some of the new freefloated ones like keymod don't use the std AR armorers wrench - just a big Cresent wrench. Hogue includes a plastic strap wrench with their overmolded handguard.
