That was me. I called Rifle Tailor several times a few months back when I was trying to get one of his FAL BBs, and his website showed that they were no longer available, only to get the VM. One day the owner Joseph actually answered and stated that they were now obsolete and he was working on coming out with a new design that would require the action to be broken in order to drop the mag.

I too have been patiently awaiting this new design. I just tried to go to the RT website but, alas it looks like the domain has expired = not looking too good.

DSA has the Canadian ones on their site for around $40. They are steel with a stamped charger guide.

Brad at Gunthings has a few FN hiduminium ones (I'm pretty sure he's out of the FN steel ones) for around $120-130. They are made of a lightweight aluminum-based alloy and have a milled charger guide.

Sometimes you can find them for sale on the FAL Files Marketplace. I got a couple through there, the FN hiduminium types, including one that I got from Belgium. I got one for $65 and one for $70. The types are the British steel ones (rare), the Canadian steel ones, the FN steel ones, and the FN hiduminium ones.

DSA also sells a version of their scope mount that is shorter and has a charger-guide. Tapco used to make a similar mount. Grenadier precision was going to make a version of their scope mount with one, but I don't think they ever made any; even if they did I've never seen one for sale, but those would be a neat option if they are out there.

Your receiver needs to be notched for the tangs at the bottom of the cover, otherwise it won't slide on. If your remove the tangs the cover will slide forward under recoil.

The receiver on mine is notched for the clip dust cover.

I've had great success with the DSA 10 round magazines I got from Brownells. They were very tight at first in the magazine well but loosened up after some use. They feed fine in my DS58 rifle.

Mill. Randall at AR15 Barrels did some for me today (first ones he's ever done, apparently). On my first build I stupidly removed material from the tabs, but somehow the cover never moved forward. But on this latest build I wanted it done right (and I'm not doing anything to harm an FN top cover; they are much less common than the Canadian ones).

You can cut the tabs off and put a dab of JB weld in the track just before the end of the dust cover to keep it in place. Or you can have the receiver notched to accommodate the tabs.
