          I do not know the name of the part but I do know that old M14 stocks had them. They were used to prevent muzzle raise and help with controlling an M14 fired in full auto.
          My biggest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

                This is correct.
                Can you imagine a shoulder fired .308 in full auto? Fantastically inaccurate and beat you like a rented mule. 750 rounds per minute - thats like $5 or $6 per second for me and you. Would be a lot of fun for the first couple magazines!
