Monster Man Grip on a carbine

I had shared this in another DOJ related thread, but thought it was worthy of its own thread..

I have an KISS build, SP1 slick side carbine clone, that I built on a Nodak 601 lower (everything Colt, except the stripped lower). For grins, I put a muzzle break, pinned the fiberite stock, and put an MMG on it to be "Featureless.". I put the thumb over the top of the fin, and it was REALLY comfortable... I was totally surprised. It doesn't look TOO lame, either. Before this I used HammerHeads on carbine builds, but I think this is more comfortable, and looks better...especially on a retro build.

Here's the MMG on a carbine...

Just asking for clarification, but since you can stick your thumb through the gap doesn't that qualify as a thumbhole stock?

No because it's not part of the stock. It's two separate pieces.

the web of the hand is higher than the trigger. not equal too or lower.
          just an opinion.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

That was the prevalent setup when OLLs first came out and the Monsterman grip first came out. It's no less comfortable than a fin grip setup.

I have a Monsterman and tried it with Magpul Fixed Carbine and it didn't quite look or feel right. In my opinion it needs the A2 Rifle Stock to complete it.

Just finished MMG install on mine also.

The 901 needed a little trim & massage to fit the 901 properly.

An got to install the ambi mag release also

Ive always gone with oversized grips. Looks like that grip would be accommodating for bigger hands.

I feel the same way about mine. I'll pick up an A2 stock for it probably sooner than later.

Put an ambidextrous safety on it. Holding the Monster man Grip the way it's supposed to be held and your thumb will be right next to the safety.

If youre able to wrap your thumb around it, it seems like it would be a pistol grip, IMO. I personally would not use a monsterman with anything but an A2 stock for that reason. Im not trying to be a killjoy, but you have to think about things in terms of "what would an unknowledgeable police officer or prosecutor think?".

It is absolutely not, as the regulation clearly states the web of the hand has to be below the top plane of the trigger. On the MMG over grip, the web is over that plane more than an inch. In fact it is as high or higher than the web of the hand holding the M1 Carbine.

Not sure how they line up together. Rock River makes/used to make a carbine size A2 like stock as well...
