Warning- Buying Bullet button type rifles

Just sold my AR tonight. I made sure the buyer knew about this. Just so you know that if you buy an AR type rifle there is a possibility you can get screwed by the DOJ. The deadline is December 20th to transfer or buy. But here is the catch. If you get delayed by the DOJ, which can be any reason from nothing to needing more info you can be out the cash and the rifle.
Every so often DOJ will put a 30 day hold on a firearm transfer. If that happens to you here is what happens. You already payed for the firearm. If delayed and the transfer does not happen on December 31, the your rifle is not returned to the previous owner. It gets turned into the Police or DOJ for destruction. For a PPT your money is gone and your rifle is permanently gone with no recourse.
If I'm wrong about this please correct me.

    JUST BE AWARE

    Thanks PRK

Srsly, God dam this rotten state.

One way that comes to mind for selling OL rifles is to make it 'featureless' then you won't have to deal with this new nonsense. Ofc, I know I'm not the only one that knows its only a matter of time until that too is on the chopping block. F'them.

The last day is the 21st, not the 20th.

Dealer can convert rifle to featureless or fixed mag before the end of the year...for a price.

Not to thread jack but how many of you have asked your lgs about ppt or sale of featureless rifles? (Meaning ar/ak/other made featureless) I've asked both in my city and both say they are not touching them because they have no clear definition of featureless. Sounds like fud to me but I can't make them process the transaction so not the boat I want to be in.

Thats true for new guns as well, when you buy a new gun they give you a warning and a figure amount of the DOJ rejects application then you're out like 1/3rd of the purchase price

                Yep, they are FUDs.

One can sell or purchase a featureless AR/AK or other conforming firearm, the same as one would purchase a featureless Mini 14 or M1A.

If it's an AK, should already have a fixed stock. Make sure it has a grip wrap on it before you DROS it.

If there's any delay and pickup date is pushed past 12-31, it won't meet CA's new idiotic definition of "aw" (presuming no flash hider)
