    Wolf 223 Copper Jacket Polyformance

Anyone have experience with this steel cased non-magnetic projectile Wolf ammo? I've shot a lot of this in the past in my AKs with their 7.62x39 caliber and it's been great.

I usually shoot brass cased Wolf Gold but saving $50 a case intrigued me. $274 shipped for a case of 1k

SGAMMO usually has it cheaper than that when it's in stock
Shop 223 / 5.56mm Ammo at SG Ammo. Largest selection of cheap ammunition for sale online. In stock ammo with fast shipping and bulk discount pricing.

There's already tons of info out there on running steal cased ammo through AR's.

Looks like it was the same price at SGAMMO the last time it was in stock. I've read a some of the debate with shooting brass/steel cased ammo out or ARs.

I guess I'm asking more about this ammo specifically as I haven't been able to find much info on it.

        Great plinkin ammo

Gone thru more than a few cases of the stuff over the years with only a handful of bad primers.

        Good to go, imho.

If I have any AKs in 556, I would use it in a hearbeat.

Thanks for the feedback, after doing more research, I think I will stick to brass cased Wolf for now.

Seems to be a mixed bag of results shooting steel case. Any broken extractors at all after 8k rounds? Hows the barrel looking?

After 8k rounds of any ammo I would expect there to be barrel wear and replaced extractors.

I havent had any broken extractors because i did swap BCG to a BCM one around 3-4k.

Im not sure where you guys getting these barrel wear from... Standard AR15 barrels last 10-15k rounds, no?

As for the luckygunner test, they did non-stop mag dumps and obviously that ruined the barrel real quick, but that goes for standard brass ammo as well. Show me a link where someone killed their barrels using steel cased ammo as a casual shooter, not a 24/7 mag dump machine. Heat kills barrels the fastest.

Note, my barrel is CHF from BCM, but Ive shot at least 3k through my voodoo barrel which is 4150 melonite coating and so far so good.

One other thing, at first I did get a lot of stuck casings with one of my PSA upper thats not chrome lined, but I started lubing the chamber and that problem went away.

Thanks Nguyen, that's some great info.

I may get a case to try out on my BCM and SPR builds.

Really? I'm at 10k and no malfunctions either.

Even if your extractor might, slightly wear faster over a long period of time. The savings will easily pay far an $8 extractor

Wow , I have not seen this stuff in some time. It used to be every where years ago.
I still have some in 7.62x39 but no longer have it in .223
I USED to use it a lot in .223 but with the 55gr HOLLOW point bullet for g'hogs.
Absolutely no problem wacking them at 300yds.
It was great stuff and only a little bit more per box than the non-copper bullets.
AND , it saved me from having to handload my g'hog rounds.
Then one day ..... I'm missing g'hogs-crows all the time.
I ended up running the gun to the range after one failed hunt and that stuff shot widley even at 200yds......
Everything checked out ... gun was good , mount , scope , etc... the accuracy just went to crap.
Got some more and same thing.
I ended up selling my left overs and some time after that all the copper bullet stuff had disappeared.
I'm talking maybe 12-15 yrs ago.
