Upper Assembly decisions...

Need to finish off my featureless build but don't know what upper to get. I've narrowed it down to these since they are in my price range $550 and below.

Stag Arms:

Any other options in the price range? Basically need a crowned or muzzle braked barrel.

I'd go with the stag upper.

Stag is a solid mid-grade brand. Safe choice, but only because I've never heard of Ghost. Could be great. Do your research.

Neither, Stag kinda screwed over the public during sandy hook and I've never heard of the other company which isn't a great sign. If your set on those two though I'd get the stag.

Or maybe explore other options.

Rock river (typically long wait times)
BCM (as mentioned above)
PSA (some good stuff at somewhat reasonable prices)
Build your own (get exactly what you want)

The Ghost upper looks pretty cool. PSA has a decent deal right now, upper with CHF barrel for $340 free shipping.

Good input^. Reason I like stag is cuz I have one and haven't had any issue with it for years. I really like the Ghost look but can't find any reviews on them, since they are fairly new.

In addition to the other options mentioned, consider Aeroprecision. I believe you can get them in fde from the factory.

Here's a BCM link. A little pricier then you want, but you are paying for one of the best uppers. You can also get a 15" handguard or a Govt. Barrell, but this ELW barrel is highly regarded. The ghost looks nice. Shorter gas system then the BMC.

You can find uppers like BCM, LMT, and even a Colt at around your price range. Just have to be patient and look around.

Don't rush to finish this build; set it aside and focus on something else until the right upper at the right price comes up.
