    Howa rifles

Anyone own any bolt action rifles of this make? They seem like a good deal but I wanted to ask anyone if they had any or experience with any, which model, caliber, and if it was a heavy or light barrel, and how was its accuracy. Thanks.

I've been considering one as well. From what I've heard and read, they are the same thing as the Weatherby Vanguard. They come off the same assembly line, the Vanguards are just put into a different stock.

Yes they are the same rifle made in the same factory. I own a weatherby vanguard in 30-06. The rifle came with a 100 yd test target and the groups were a little over a half inch. It is a good hunting rifle at a good price.

Bought a used Howa and the fit, function and accuracy are great.....

I believe they are made in Japan (which is just about as good as anything built in the US) and the same gun as the Weatherby. Excellent value, mine is in .308

Got a 308 Howa for my son a few years back. Excellent shooter right out of the box. One of the best buys out there for the money. The package model with a scope already mounted is a heck of a deal also. The scopes a jap made 3 to 9 variables sold under the Nikko Sterling name, mounts and rings are aluminum.

I have dealt with many, many, many Howas. They are nice rifles, good quality, accurate, and they are priced reasonably. Very few come back for repairs/service. I've shot several and owned one, a Weatherby Vanguard in .308, and loved it. I'd recomend them.

Yes they are made by Howa and sold under that name...they also make them for Weatherby to sell under their own name and you can get the inexpensive Vanguards chambered in the weatherby cartridges which is kind of neat. I've never heard a bad thing about them either.....

I don't know if you still can...but you used to be able to buy the Weatherby Vanguards at Walmart for really cheap....I always meant to buy one but never did (walmart doesn't sell guns in CA anymore...)

I have a Howa 1500 lighting that I purchased from a fellow CalGunner. I can shoot 1" MOA bench rest using 70's surplus 30-06s. And I'm not that great of a shot... so it must be the gun.

I was reading more into it and it says the Howa will take the Remington 700 two piece ring mounts. Does this mean it will take a Remington 700 one piece mount? Or are the screw holes different distances away?

I have sold a boat load of them and I havent had a customer complain about one yet
I hear from experienced shooters that they will outshoot 700s.

I really don't see how it could be any different. I would imagine that if it takes one type of mount for the 700 then it would take all mounts for the 700.

The howa/vanguard rifles can use one piece bases for the 700.
