PSA LPK on Anderson Stripped Lower- Installation Issues

Got my black friday upper few days ago and went to put together another build using a PSA LPK, Anderson Lower, and Primary Arms (by PSA) Upper.

I'm waiting on an enhanced trigger for this build so I pulled the trigger out and put it on another partially finished lower I've had forever (also Anderson, not sure on the rest of the kit but probably PSA). Everything went together fine there although my p-mags won't drop free empty. Troy battlemag does though and haven't tried my GI mags yet.

On the other build I started with the magazine release and promptly found that my P-mag won't even insert unless I slam it in or hold the mag release button in as I insert it (I'm in TX so don't freak out please). It's already scratched up the lip on the left pretty bad. I figured I'd move on and come back to it (skipping the bolt catch so I can remove the mag release later) and went to install the front takedown pin. Got my spring and detent in and then slid the takedown pin in. Went to function test it and I can't get the takedown pin out without using a hammer and punch.

At this point I'm putting the whole thing on hold til I figure out if it's an issue with the lower or the LPK...

    Any suggestions calguns?

    Thanks from TX!

Someone subcontracting the takedown pins drilled the dimples too deep. I have run into it on a couple different brands of LPKs. Take the detent, and flatten the point that engages the dimple a little. That helps a lot.

Press the mag release in far enough that you can unscrew the mag catch a turn or two, sounds like it might be too tight.

I completed 4 lowers with PSA parts. Never had a problem.

Good to have new members here who are helpful. We've been getting a lot of a-holes lately.
            Now we know!

I got an out of spec trigger in a PSA kit. That was real fun. :-(

Are you still having trouble moving the takedown pin in and out?

If you are you may want to measure the width of the trough on the lower where the upper mates into it and make sure it's at least .500. Also measure the lugvthat comes down from the upper into the same spot and make sure that it is under .500. I had and out of spec lower coupled with an upper that was too big that would just jam it in there and I would have trouble pulling the takedown pins out. A little work taking a little bit off of the upper and of course opening up the fire control trough a little bit took care of the problem nicely.

If I have to use a wood dowel and light taps with a mallet to remove a takedown or pivot pin, I don't freak out - especially on a brand new build.

And I have had some mag catches from cheap LPKs that needed to be beveled a bit more on the bottom so all mags would insert easily. Again, no big deal.

I would bevel the mag catch, cold blue it in the shiny area, and keep on keepin on. The takedown or pivot pin will eventually loosen up and you will reminisce on the day your pins were tight. Yeah, it could be the trough and detent as mentioned, or it could just be tight. If you remove the detent and then test the insert and removal of the pin, you will know which is the case.
