I have equal numbers of AKM and 5.45 pattern guns and a good sprinkling of modern 100 series units in 5.56 / 5.45 / 7.62.

I had over a dozen 47 variants at one point. I prefer 74/5.45 anyday

            Eh...

I never liked the ballistics of the 5.45x39. I love 7.62x39 and I love ak's. The 74 rifles I fired had the same recoil as a 47, so it's not like ar15's where you can get them for your wife and daughters. Expensive, harder to find ammo with unfavorable ballistics? I say no. Never again. To be fair, I hate 5.56 ballistics too. Cheap toy ammo. .30 cal or let your girl do the shooting.

Snaggle... Thats what I thought but hornady range safe 5.45 is $0.38/rd with silver bear around $0.25.

Cheap 5.56 is $0.33/rd (Geco) and XTAC is 0.35....

IM worried about the ca ammo ban and how, when, if i can get the "exotic" ammo.

Ive got a Bulgarian, a Sar2 and a Vepr ak74-11 in the safe. I LOVE the 5.45 round. Probably one of my favorite guns to shoot.

The 74 is the only AK.

7.62x39 AK's are for people who prefer Glocks to 1911's, own pit bulls, or take their wives back when they get cheated on.

As someone who just put down money on an AK-74 (Vepr) today, why not? I don't have anything Russian otherwise, and AKs are iconic.

5.45x39 is flatter shooting and recoil is even less than the 556

Maybe the ATF will lift the ban on 7n6 under an administration more friendly with Russia.

Hornady has a new offering in 5.45.
Graf & Sons, the reloading authority, has a wide selection of reloading supplies, shooting supplies, ammo and more.
