    C39v2 2016

So i have a C39v2 (2nd gen) in Jail it has the 4150 Barrel and Side rail for the scope mount. Im curious if anyone here has any experience with this version of the rifle? Everything ive heard about the 2015 models have been hit or miss. Before everyone calls me an idiot for not buying a comblock AK. It was the only one they had in my price range. It was that or an RAS47 and ive heard nothing but bad things about that model. They had one Aresnal AK for $1400 which I was not willing to spend. So thats why i went with the C39V2.

So anyway what's everyones thoughts on the newer model? Do they still have the crappy "playdoe" bolt that the other ones have? I guess worst case scenario i put a different bolt in it like everyone seems to be doing with the RAS and the older C39V2s

No need to doubt yourself, it's likely a fine rifle. Only way to know for sure is to put lots of rounds through it so get out and shoot.

If something breaks, fix it, until then don't worry.

      C39v2

I have this same rifle in jail also. I read about all those reviews from the older version. I'm pretty confident those issues have been worked out. I think we will be fine.

I have seen the bolt carrier fail on the C39V2, cracking across where they put the cut outs in the bolt carrier shaft. I have no idea why they would put those cuts in it as no other manufacturer does that and to me it just adds a weak point.

Other than that, from what I have heard, the V2 seems to be a fairly solid gun. Some have said the the bolt is still softer than it should be and advocate getting a Polish bolt and carrier as backups if the original parts fail.

Smart move staying away from the RAS47.

Honestly, if I was looking to get another AK, I would probably go with either a VEPR or Arsenal. I think the VEPR's are the best deal right now as they have the thicker RPK receiver and barrel. Arsenals are a bit over priced, but they are solid guns. I know that being stuck in Commiefornia severely limits what is available and you have to kind of take what you can get.

I know that a persons finances will determine what they can afford and there are other expenses to be considered like magazines and ammo.

They are hit or miss, if you got a bad one you are stuck and out money . Anything century builds or converts is a crap shoot.

I had one of these on order from the PX/MCX/whatever on Camp Pendleton. After 3 weeks they called me and told me the vendor never ordered it and they were out of stock, no idea when another would come in. So I ordered a WASR 10 from somewhere else.

Anyway, I have a friend that has the C39V2 and has fired about 1K through it with no issues. He loves it.

I have two of the version 1, bought right after Sandy Hook. Didn't know much about AK back then, much less about CAI. Walked into Turners one day looking for something to buy before the "national ban." Nothing was left on the shelf back then. The guy behind the counter pitched me the version 1. I bought it on the spot. Didn't know anything better. Take it home and shoot about 2K rounds w/o cleaning. The gun ran flawlessly. I love the sound of the bolt going into battery. It sounds like a solid chunk of steel of a well-oil machine. The gun isn't light. Mine is probably a 10lbs. Anyway, I was really surprised with all the negative reviews online. People were talking about cracked bolt, canted sight, etc...Mine has none of that, although grouping is wide. However, that could be me. I didn't care much then and still don't care much now. It wasn't meant to be a long distance gun for me. If I can ring steel at 200 yards with it, I'm more than happy. Then came SSE, so I went out and bought a pistol version of the same gun. Same result. Flawless gun, although I didn't shoot the pistol that much. 2K rounds or less in total.

The bottom line is I have had great experience with both guns (version 1). I think the V2 is probably better. Now that they have the time to iron out all the kinks of V1. Since 2013, I've come close to buying an Arsenal several times. However, for some reasons, that rifle never sang to me, despite the fact that the gun has had continuous glowing reviews online. For the $$$ of an Arsenal, I'd rather buy the CMMG MK47: http://www.riflegear.com/p-4153-cmmg...-762x39mm.aspx

I have about 2000 rounds down the barrel and only shoot
corrosive surplus ammo and have yet to encounter any problems with my RAS

Thanks for the feedback! I plan on buying 1,000rds after I get it and shoot it alot. And make sure everything is sound before the warranty expires
