What makes the new Vepr FM-AK47-11 -$300 more than standard wood vepr 7.62x39

Trying to justify why the new Vepr is $300 more.

    I prefer the wood.

Other than that, what else does the extra $300 get you?

Factory converted & straight back receiver, if you try to convert yourself it'll run about $300 more, Atlantics sells their converted Vepr with slant receiver from $1200

^ Agreed . . . there's plenty of parts and labor that goes into the conversion from the sporter configuration.

It'll cost more than $300 to do the conversion if you were to start with the slant back. Most people would also use the bolt on handguard retainer which to me just doesn't look as nice. You'll also be stuck with the stock retainer on there unless you press off the GB and FSB for removal.

        The new VEPR has:
-Riveted bullet guide (most will do screw on if you do the conversion)
-RPK Hanguard retainer (as opposed to bolt on)
        -Squareback receiver
-Muzzle nut (not welded so easier to replace with a brake- the sporter is welded so you would need to grind it down for removal)

Might be something I'm missing but that's the jist of it.

If you like wood, Im sure the polymer can be replaced with wood RPK handguard and a wood stock. That's what Im going to try to do when I get mine. If you like the sporter configuration as is, no use in getting the converted one.
