Nothing against geoint but if your going precision I'd pick out each part individually and build it up exactly how you want but if $$$ is in short supply you can get by with psa. But I guess I'm into top quality components (not tacticool) but I took my time, saved my money and bought peices as money allowed but because I knew exactly what I wanted I only had to buy them once instead of replacing parts as I go. My ARs are made up of parts from jp, noveske and geissele. But then again I could probably have half a dozen psa rifles for the price of two of my ARs(not including optics), different strokes for different folks. They all shoot and as long as yours does what you want and makes you happy that's really all that matters.

8mm Mauser, .50AE or even 7.62X54R if you can get a decently priced upper for it.

Ya money is definitely in short supply.

Im not expecting sub-MOA accuracy. Id be totally cool with 2 or even 3 MOA. I like bullets moving faster cuz theres a better chance that what Im shooting at is going to feel the hurt when the bullet does what its intended to do.

And Im no stranger to quality guns. Look at some of the guns Ive sold in the last 2 years. I just have my personal guns taken care of and now Im enjoying putting together an arsenal with the 80%'s Ive bought.

With that said, my LWRC, PWS or BCM's dont do anything that my PSA CHF guns cant....

Edit: well, besides look cool. but we all know what thats worth

Ok. Now some links for 7.62 uppers.

How is pricing compared to 5.56 uppers?

Not terribly expensive, but the issue tends to be quality. From what I've read, you are generally better off getting something designed from the ground up for 7.62x39 like the CMMG Mutant or the PSA KS-47 type platform. http://palmettostatearmory.com/ks-47...r-9/ks-47.html

Just get the tried and true 223/556. No point in getting some oddball caliber with pricey harder to find ammo and mags. 556 is a great round, still decently priced and can be purchased everywhere, along with mags. Uppers are plentiful (can get really nice stuff for $550 range, even cheaper stuff that still will run great) and run flawless first time around with no tinkering due to a random non standard caliber that is finicky.

If you didn't know, the Mutant is more like an AR10 than an AR15. It uses a longer spacing between pins and generally heavier duty parts. That has advantages and disadvantages...

The KS47 uses standard AR15 pin spacing. However, because the AK magazine is a LOT wider than the AR magazine, you need a specially designed upper receiver (or a modified stock one), as well as a special bolt carrier (and bolt thanks to rim diameter).

Also, PSA won't let you order the KS47 from California. Your FFL needs to get in touch with them, sign some paperwork saying they aren't liable for any problems, and then the FFL can order it for you. Expect it to take 3 weeks from when your FFL starts to when you can start DROS. Not all FFLs are willing to order it either, because it has a normal mag release... but because it doesn't have any evil features it is legal (could be built featureless).
