5.45x39. Upper is about the same as 5.56 and 7.62x39. Ammo is WAY cheaper!

There is a lot of support for 6.8, more products every day.

I have two 6.8 rifles, one 16" lightweight I built as a hunting rifle and one 18" SPRish rifle.
They have become my favorites.
Reload for inexpensive practice.
Get a 1/11 barrel with SPCII/DMR chamber and shoot SSA combat loads for defense.

For a cheap blaster 7.62x39 is a good upgrade. But I still prefer the 6.8.
