    Upper questions... please look

a couple questions. thanks for looking

1.) daniel defense uppers? are they any good? any bad? I'm looking at one.

2.) another barrel twist rate for ammo question.... building a gun to use winchester 55grain FMJ ammo. that is what will be shot out of the gun. No questions about the ammo please because that is the ammo that the Gods tell me to shoot. What is the best twist rate for it. and please keep in mind that this gun will max out at 100 yards. yes only 100 yards and I will be required to use a trijicon ACOG 3X optic

    thanks in advance

    DD are good but overpriced.

1:9 is what you want, at most.

Sounds like department requirements to me. I still know of a few Depts that field 55grn FMJ due to stuipd old ideas... Even worse, I know HUGE ones that issue 55grn winchester ranger SP...

Ridiculous, when there are MUCH better offerings out there.

Wait, you expect department policies to be of sound logic?
That's like expecting politicians to only enact laws that make sense...

+1, I have one and i works great. A little pricey, but if it's available right now, might be worth it. Rainier arms? Is that where your looking?

yeah department policies about the ammo.

so a 1:9 twist rate is best for the ammo?

                any down side to a 1:7 or a 1:8?

                  1:7 1:8 1:9 - 1:12 will fire 55 gr efficiently.

The only downside with 1:7 is you cant fire them tiny 35/40 grainers. They explode in mid air. But no one really shoots those or can they even shoot those safety out of a ar? 1:7 can fire long bullets like 77 grainers very well and i've had success down to 50 grain bullets flying true out of 1:7.

Not necessarily true - their combat carbine upper includes a DD lite rail 7.0 and we retail it for $805. A comparable CMMG upper with the same rail prices out at around $840.00. Their SPR uppers are expensive, I agree.

Is that with or without BCG? With, that's a very good value.

IIRC, they don't use proper mil steel, though... can you confirm whether it's 4140 or 4150-mil-b-11.s.dfjsid (I forget the rest of the #'s )?

I'm honestly not someone who insists on all the mil stds being necessary, but I think it's a fair and important question.
