I'm putting together a couple sarco cetme kits soon, and the barrel that I purchased is threaded 5/8-24 instead of the original style 15mm. The rifles are destined to be featureless, so no flash hiders for me. I was looking at these guys on hkparts.net-
But they are little more than a thread protector, since the slots aren't milled all the way through... for some reason hkparts thinks we need a special version that isn't actually a brake.
Here's a real brake from them, but it only comes in 15mm-
And here's an expensive version of the above-
At this point the only option seems to be the "California" brake, but it would need the slots milled open to be anything more than dead weight, or I was thinking of just going for the Troy Medieval brake, the cetme bayonet should slip over it just fine, since most NATO muzzle devices are similar outside dimensions. I have one in 1/2-28 on another rifle and I'm quite happy with it, and and it wouldn't look terribly out of place on something old school like a wood furniture cetme.
Any other options you guys can suggest?
Don't just tell me to forget the bayonet, not an option. All my rifles get a bayonet if one was issued with it. Part of the fun in these sorts of rifles are all the cool accessories
