    BCG Cracked!!!

Came back home from the range today and was taking apart my rifle to clean it and I discover this!
What on earth happened!?!?! The gas key is on tight and staked. The kmr rail also separated from the receiver. The bolt looks fine. Any ideas?

I failed to see any crack on the BCG... And as far as the gap between rail and upper receiver, it seems normal.

those silver spots on the bcg shouldn't be there, definitely something smacking something it shouldn't have

is it possible your barrel nut has come loose?
What silver spots? COuld be the angle of the camera. Are you judging it by the gap? I'm not sure. I did torque to to the recomeended 40 ft lbs.

jimbo74, if you are referring to the light silver ring on the outer edge of front of the BCG, that's from BCG smacking against the receiver extension which is perfectly normal.

The upper seems fine to me too. I really think OP is just scaring the crap out of himself for nothing.

Loosen the handguard screws and push it back into place and tighten.

They were probably loose enough for the handguard to slide forward.

bolt looks fine to me as for the rail see if you can take it off and reinstall.

Hahahaha . Small freak outs happen to the best of us. The rail issue could be the cross bolts loosened or could be worse. In for the dets.

This thread should be nominated for the "most noob" thread for 2016.
Why did the gap between the rail and upper get bigger? I tightened it to spec.

nevermind the silver spot, the pic made it look funny.....

have you retorqued the barrel nut or checked it since it appears the hg has separated from the upper

Phewww…….Thank you Calguns for saving me from a heart attack. I saw that line and the irregular angle on the bottom and thought it went crooked because of the crack when in reality it was just a line created by the oil. HAHAHA. Thanks guys.

You tightened to spec and how many times have you shot it? If this was the first time then it could have loosened.
