    Well. . .

I have it on good authority, that they made more than One(1).

Cut an inch(1") and squared the butt.

Makes for a very nice, handy carbine.

Nice looking rifle IF it didn't have that ugly, black, plastic stock. Wood would definitely look better.

However I do have this 196 series Ruger Range rifle I bought new way back in the 2000's...Haven't shot it in years but I remember minute of paper plate type of accuracy - and that with younger eyes and no glasses.

So, to turn it into a steely eyed paper killer, I read up on the most common solutions offered up by Mini owners - I.E. barrel strut and optics.

I went with the Accuracy Systems strut purely out of how it looks - nice and clean install. Frankly I was surprised when it arrived and I saw the quality of the parts. I also picked up a gas bushing set to fine tune the operation and ejection. Starting with a .040 bushing and will work from there.

The scope is a Leopold 4 to 12 VXII - a bit over glassed, but it is what I had in the safe. Had to buy high rings to clear the hand guard.

Haven't shot it yet, but expect to see...something Not going to be terribly disappointed if all I see is a 4 MOA average, but anything larger will require me to rethink things. Loaded up some 55 and 60 grain Hornady bullets on top of some TAC and off to the range sometime next week...

Sweet looking Mini-14! Looks much more like the M-14/M-1A, then the stock Mini-14 does.

Still, I believe a slightly thicker barrel would improve the accuracy, of any Mini-14.

I'm not a big fan of the featured black rifles in fact the only rifles I own are a pre-warning 10/22 and a pre-safety pre-Remlin .357 Marlin 1894 Carbine.
This will soon change as I got a chance to shoot a friend's Mini 14 during a recent dove hunting trip. Got so stoked I could hardly wait to get back home to start searching for one. It took a while to locate but finally jailed a 583 wood/blue. Will pick it up in a few days.

I've got a black Hogue stock you can have for the cost of shipping if you want it.

Just bought the 5817 (the Tactical) over the weekend. Thanks to all the Sac-Fascists and their laws the price has gone up about $100 over the last month! Will probably order the wood stock in a few months. Looking forward to sighting it in and shooting it in a couple of weeks.

I am not offended by the polymer stock - it has nice lines.

I don't know what they were thinkin' when they made the wood stocks so long in the toe.

Thankfully, nothin' that a chop-saw, drill-motor, screw driver, and a little sand paper couldn't fix.

Wish they would profile the wood stocks like the polymer... that would be very nice.

Think they could have chosen a more macho-nacho name like Grand-14.

A reference to the size of the grouping.

Well... "Assault Rifle" was already taken, by the Apparatchik Nit-wits in the Soviet Politburo in Sacramoscow.

Oh, the love of the mini...Nothing wrong about the mini. After the end of the year, that, and the M1A, and M1 garand will be the snizzle of the nizzle. I sort of like the grand style. It is nice to have some rifles that don't look like mattel toys.
