Lean and mean is nothing. Round hand guards and carry handles.

I've debated whether I want to get rid of my FSB and midlength clamshell but going to flip up and BCM KMR seems almost like a down grade because It won't be as durable.

To me, this is lean and mean. Carbine length Magpul Buis, stock and handguard, aimpoint ACO.

Fairly affordable $-wise, too

I'm more partial to triangle handguards and fixed carry handles. Everything you need and nothing you don't.

I like both styles, guess that is why I have some of each...UH-ER I mean IF I HAD AN AR15 platform rifle. I would be happy with either style..PHHEEW

accessories are not securely attached on mlok/keymod rails unless they have a backplate on them.....the rattle off left and right. The mlok/keymod are not the strongest rails either and have some flex and breaks sometimes.
For serious business it is still a nice quad rail.......

Those are all slim and cute till you start putting a mag or two down range and feel that heat. Then you are going to need covers.....which add more weight and size.

I installed a handguard similar to these for the female hands in the family. I liked the feel so much I changed my AR to the same type of slim handguard.

Interesting... Don't seem to have this heat problem you speak of with my BCM KMR with 1.3" ID, or SLR Helix with 1.35" ID, or UTG Pro with 1.65" ID... Based on your claim, most, if not all 3-Gunners would have covers galore on their handguards given the amount of rounds they send down range each competition... The desert sun gives me more heat problems than these handguards when I shoot.

Now handgun slides, after consecutive fast mag changes, are a different animal altogether...
