FEATURELESS done a little bit differently. It uses a good number of proprietary parts. It does not use a buffer/spring. It DOES use regular AR magazines. The fact that it uses unique parts could be a negative in respect to parts availability. However, it might also be viewed as a positive if CA ever decides to ban featureless ARs. This shares the gas system of an AR, but its recoil system is more like a shotgun. I haven't shot mine. Reliability reports are very good. Gen 1 triggers are said to be not-so-great. The trigger on this is better than an out-of-the-box mil-spec AR.

The guys at Riflegear said they've received good feedback on them, but they don't get a lot in stock. I happened to stumble upon it on their website looking for stripped lowers and bought the only one they had at the time.

You need to add your upper and a bolt of your choosing. I also purchased the optional bolt hold open latch for $29.

Based on the reviews I saw online, I was a little worried about the trigger. It is AR-ish, but it's mainly proprietary. The springs might be standard springs. It's not a bad trigger at all. It is a 2-stage with a couple mm of take-up and then a reasonably crisp break. It's not a Geissele, but it's better than OEM AR triggers IMO.

I like it because it reminds me of a gas-version of my Benelli MR-1, which I think is one of the best featureless rifles that uses AR-mags. What this can do that the Benelli cannot, is use any D.I. upper I want to mate it with. I wouldn't consider this to be a good option for someone working with a single AR due to several non-standard parts. However, it has a nice place in a diversified portfolio of firearms, especially with the B.S. we have to contend with in 2017.

The one I looked at at Turners when they first came out had a HEAVY trigger. So heavy it was an instant deal breaker. I also recall the guy working the counter couldn't get something to work on it. I hope they improved it from the one I handled!
