They got another selection for the lower for 200 or so, I was just wondering about the barrel parts.

Thank for explanation on HG cut. I assume that for the bipod in up position to be tight, it has to be FAL type bipod not just any, right? Any insight on the bipod cut itself? I assume some fal mount the bipod and some don't, right?Last edited by SweetPotato; 10-08-2016, 11:16 AM.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringedComment

The bipod cut barrels have EXTRA material on them to create the shoulder that holds the FAL bipod in place.
You can't simple MAKE Bipod cuts into a non-bipod cut barrel.
The bipod is specific to the parts kit type.Randall Rausch

I dont think that you will be able to get non-FAL bipods to lock up tight on either the bipod or non-bipod cut handguards. Bubba could prolly figure out how to affix non FAL bipods but I dont think you want to be 'that guy'. Some Imbel FALs were manufactured with bipods, others without - not really sure of the overall percentage of each.

If you interested in having a bipod on your build, I recommend doing the 'buy once-cry once' approach and go all in with the $500 (BC+BP). The Argy bipod is considered acceptable on an Imbel by all but the most persnickety of FAL snobs.

The one Imbel on Imbel I built was non-bipod, though I am currently building up an Israeli Heavy Barrel FAL - which does have a bipod - on an Imbel receiver I have coming from this group buy. - which does have a bipod - on an Imbel receiver I have coming from this group buy.

Bipod cut barrels are somewhat uncommon. i have one and as novel of a setup it is, it really doesn't aid in accuracy. In fact, the poi can change using the bipod. I knew this going in on the build so I didn't have any expectations of it. Just that it was neat to have it integrated.

This will probably be just novelty and range toy for me. From all my reading, it is going to be less accurate then any of my AR so having bipod affect POI should matter. Same group buy, I think. Heavy barrel appeal to me for this build. This is normal for ALL types of parts kits; FAL, G3, AK, Uzi etc...
The original users of the guns moved on to newer and better guns and cut up the old ones and sold them for scrap metal prices when they are done with them.

It would be normal to need to fully refinish them and even replace damaged wood or plastic parts.Randall Rausch

All barrels haave a wide flat groove cut in the barrel just forward of the hand guard. It's there for the sling swivel. Bipod-cut barrels have a second groove forward of that for the bipod. No second groove, no FAL bipod. Though you could probably do a kluge job and mount one.

Heavy barrel (FALO) guns are definitely heavy. Not too enjoyable position shooting one unless you're prone.True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.

I picked up a very nice STG parts set circa 20ish years ago for spare parts for my Argie. It hasn't needed any spare parts so far, so maybe I should pick up a receiver while I still can. Otherwise I might not have one some time in the distant future when I want one.

Still remember the Canadian inch sets that were stacked like cordwood for $150 each. They looked like the rifles had never been fired. Not a speck of carbon anywhere and no wear on the hammer bluing. I wouldn't be surprised if the things hadn't even been cocked 10 times.Comment

The link above is not STG, I think. It said EAI liquidation but I don't really know what that is yet.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringedComment
