Buffer question

I am putting my stock together, still unsure if I'm going to go with a 6.5 or 5.56 upper. Do I need to put a heavy duty buffer on with the 6.5? Will it affect performance if I put a heavy duty buffer for a 5.56 upper? Same for standard buffer on a 6.5 upper?

You have not given any spec of either upper. Chooseing a buffer is dependent on a lot of variables.

What stock are you using?

There are two standard lengths of buffers.
In Rifle length, there are no heavy buffer options.
In Carbine length, there are many different weight options.
Rifle length is superior.
A Rifle buffer is already heavier than about any carbine buffer.

No, you must use a carbine buffer with a collapsible stock.

Ok, I'm still new to putting the rifle together from stock, so I need to decide which upper I'm going to use before I buy the buffer?

I have used a carbine buffer in my A2 before on accident. It shot fine (about 300rds) I did not realize that i had the wrong buffer in there until i got home and started cleaning it.
