First Time Use of Brand New Mini 14

Thanks ahead of time for the info

Is a brand new out of the box Mini 14 Ranch ready to shoot?
Does it need anything cleaned , lubed, or prepared?

What is a common break in round count?

Any other need to know tips appreciated

    Thanks

Tighten the screws on the sights.

I don't know about that gun specifically but I always at least take it apart and wipe off assembly lube etc before taking it out to shoot.

Loctite rear sight assembly and magazine well screws. You also may want to check the torque of the gas block screws, but not necessary.

It should, but the Mini 14 isn't a good rifle so it needs some work right out of the box.

                  good morning ruger,

just have a question regarding torque specs
i need to know the recommended / factory torque
for a ruger mini 30 wooden stock for the following.
                  1) rear sight
                  2) magwell screws
                  3) gas block

                  thanks in advance.
                  june.

                  Response:
We do not have torque settings for these. They are hand tighten only and the gas block screws must be done evenly. Thank you for your email.

                          Congrats!

I would break it down, run a few patches down the barrel & lightly CLP contact areas.

The Mini should require no "break in"

Once sighted in with your preferred ammo, locktite the rear sight screws in place, they can after time work lose.

with any new firearm it's advisable to field strip it and give it a look under the hood. Just visually inspect it and wipe off any excess shipping grease or oil. Check fit and function of parts to each other. Make sure any screws are tight and not missing or cracked. Make sure chamber and barrel are clear by cleaning the barrel. Sometimes a new gun will have oil or grease in the barrel from shipping or storage. I have even seen debris in brand new gun barrels right from the box. So yeah..clean it good.
