Something like this
most parts are interchangeable , look up Field Repair kit or AR repair kits to give you an idea of parts that wear out commonlyWTB:
1)AR15 Aero Precision Skeletonized Lower
2)S&W 686 6in barrel ...686 No dash through 686-4
3) Saltworks M5 upper/lower set

Ammo and magazines are the most important replacement parts to stock up on.
Spare bolt and broken shell extractor would be good to have out in the field.
Tools to tighten loose pistol grips, etc.Constitutionally, officials cannot license or register a fundamental right.

Seeing is I own over a dozen AR's, and this impending ban I decided that I don't want to be without parts if something goes down in any of my rifles.
Im sure I could get stuff on the net, but you never know.
I just bought a few LPK's to keep in my tools/parts bin...Nice to have em if need em!Comment

Extractor springs. I got about 1500 rounds out of my last one before I had failures to extract. A D-Fender ring provides extra tenacity and may have been more tolerant.
Spare lowers, because Registered Assault Weapons cannot be replaced legally if damaged (unlikely for an AR lower) or stolen.Comment

I usually just buy lower parts kits. Extra bolts are a good idea, although I don't have any right now. And as someone else pointed out, extra lowers. They can get worn out eventually, and you may not be able to get replacements forever. Everything else can be ordered online indefinitely.
Also, it should go without saying, spare magazines.Comment

Honestly that's pretty much my strategy, too. I mean, I keep spare parts at home so I can repair my AR's without having to order stuff online, but I never take spare parts to the range with me. I always take at least 2 or 3 guns to the range with me, so if one breaks, I'm not going to waste a bunch of perfectly good shooting time trying to fix it. Put it back in the bag, grab another one, deal with the broken one later.
I can repair a broken AR at 2am while watching a movie, but time is money at the shooting range.
The only exception is when I'm trying to diagnose a problem - in that case, doing it at the range is ideal. But after I find the problem, I make a mental note, grab a different gun, and plink awayLast edited by CandG; 07-09-2016, 10:33 AM.Comment

This should last you a lifetime without worry about break-downs with anti-AR15 laws in place. Remember just because the whole firearm is banned, doesnt mean the parts will not be available, they will just be expensive.
In CA its now illegal to stock magazine parts that can be used to create a LCM... so you need to buy a metric ton of magazines. You should just buy 1 or 2 every paycheck.
The 60 year plan weekly use in all weather your whole life
Springs; hammer x4, trigger x4, buffer x2
Hammer and Trigger pins x4
Hammer and trigger x2 each
Disconnector x3
so all this is like 4 extra LPKs, plus an extra 2 buffer springs
Bolt complete x4
Gas key, x2, Gas Key bolts x6 (extra two if they snap off without a bad key)
Gas rings, x10 (sets)
so this is like 2 or 3 extra BCGs
Charging handle, x2 (forged last longer then extruded aluminum)
Barrel with gas block x2 (allowing for heavy abusive use over the course of 60 years)
Occasional Use plan You have other guns or don't get out that much, 5,000 rounds a year max
springs: Hammer x1, Trigger x1
Hammer and Trigger pins x3
Hammer and trigger x2
Disconnector x1
so an extra LPK
Gas rings, x4 (sets)
Bolt complete x2
charging handle x2
gas key, x1 gas key bolts x4
an extra BCG will probably do fine.
barrel x1
The Safe Queen plan yearly use, under 1,000 rounds a year
extra BCG with Bolt
extra LPK
Gas rings x2 (sets)Comment

A spare BCG will often have you up and running quickly and/or it can be cannibalized for parts...
I have a family member who carries a complete lower parts kit and a spare BCG.
Can't have too many spares, so carry what you can afford...

Seems like a good way to go if you don't have spare complete rifle(s) with you, should get you up and running for 99% of any issues you could have that are related to broken parts. Really the only things left are the gas block/tube and the buffer, neither of which typically break.Comment
