    You must be rich!
I can barely afford to run my .338LM single shot.

Like cars and women, each has different feature sets. You have to pick the best one for your needs. I saw the AA at Pala range, being coveted by a couple of buff bearded guys who turned out worked out of Coronado. They were ringing steel rapid fire at the 890 yard steel (farthest target on the range), and said it was going into their locker for sure.

Unless you need a longer barrel for the LR balistics, I think I'd pickup the AA... great all around package, decent accuracy, easy enough to convert to featureless with the standard AR grip (and somehow fix that folder), and perhaps just as critical in that level of investment: backed by an established and innovative US company.

Oh, don't forget to budget for the Scope! Not surprisingly, the beards were using a MK8 M5B2. Great optic if the tax payer's got the tab, I think I'd be looking for a "bargain" with a Bushnell Elite 30x, so long as you can get by with a G2 reticle.

Whichever way go, enjoy those desert trips!

NEMO makes a 338 Lapua semi auto. I have one in 300 win mag because I'm a cheap bastard that won't spent more than a $1 around. Mine runs great just a bit heavy.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, you're doing it all wrong.

Just skip over the "little" guns and get a 416 Barrett if you want a bigbore auto loader.
The ammo is prices similarly, but has better performance.

            Most work performed while-you-wait.

Go with F&D defense. I love mine. Flawless. Having a few teething issues with their 308 version tho, but the 338 version rocks so far. Less than 1" groups
