    AR15 problems :(

    Hello fellas,
So my buddy recently put together an AR15 using an Anderson lower and a rifle kit purchased at palmetto state armory. Today he took it out to the range for the very first time and to his disappointment the rifle did not function as it should.
The very first shot went good, as he pulled the trigger once again he said the rifle fired 2-3 rounds with one trigger pull. After having this problem he was a little worried and decided to pack up and just leave the range. What do you guys think caused this? Any help would be great..thanks

I would make sure that the trigger pin is fully seated. Next, I would look in the lower receiver to ensure that no foreign objects fell in around the trigger, hammer, and disconnector area.

Sounds like the disconnector spring is installed upside down. Ask your friend to check the disconnector spring. Bigger end at the bottom.

This was not an 80% lower.

Here you go. I posted this years ago. Sounds like the disco spring is not in properly or got mixed up with the bolt catch spring.

+1 on the disconnector spring being installed incorrectly. Same thing happened to my build until I realized that the spring was upside down

Disconnector problem, as others have said the spring is the first suspect. A thorough function /reset test at home should have alerted him to this before he ever loaded any ammo.

A recent disconnector spring that came from palmetto was found to be out of spec and had significantly less coils than a spring that was in-spec. Even though it passed a function check, consistent doubles were present as well as premature wear to the disconnector. After that, it failed function checks. Replaced the spring and bingo.

Did he use the trigger out of the LPK or did he install an adjustable trigger? If he installed an adjustable trigger, it's probably firing that second shot on the trigger reset.

trigger/hammer springs being placed incorrectly would lead to light hammer strikes but not disconnector issues.

He likely swapped the disconnector spring with the bolt catch spring, or has the disconnector spring upside down.
