    Scope Recommendations

    Hey guys,

I've got a couple handguns but Im in my 10 day DROS waiting period for my FIRST AR15 rifle. Ill be picking up my Daniel Defense v11 rifle soon and am beginning to look at scoping options. From everything I've seen, most are way over my budget and wanted to get some suggestions for under $500. Do you think that I can find a reasonable and good enough scope for that much or is it better to wait and buy a more expensive one? This rifle will be mostly for target practice. Thanks in advance!

One of those Primary Arms FFP scopes could be a good one for an AR.

    Like this one:

Advanced Combined Sighting System rifle scopes with integrated BDC, wind holds, and target leads. LPVO scopes from 1-6x to 1-8x. Lifetime warranty.

A 16 inch carbine doesn't need a lot of power but a nice 6 power would do the trick. Maybe the Vortex Strike Eagle 1X6?

I like using a 2x7 on my ar. They seem to have the best power and features for the cartridge and the rifle. This is what the rifle wears, and am very happy with it http://www.burrisoptics.com/scopes/f...scope-2-7x35mm

I've been using a Vortex Strike Eagle in an American Defense QD mount. Works really well. Good enough for target practice and run and gun, if you're into that sort of thing.

            Scope-$350 Basspro http://www.basspro.com/Vortex-Strike...5020708372772/

            Mount-$189.99 AMDF site. https://www.americandefensemanufactu...iew/product/5/

Also, less expensive mounts can be found if you don't need to pull the scope for storage purposes. If you want true return to zero, Larue is your best bet

Leupold Mark AR Mod-1. I think without illumination they can be had for like $350, about $500 with illuminated dot.

Budget about $100 for a Warne skelemount.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Just so happens a buddy of mine has this exact scope for sale under msrp so I'll be going this route. Looking at the harris bipod as well. Thanks again!

                  +1 Leupold
I looked thru a smattering of different glass, from Vortex to Nightforce at the range yesterday.
FOV always beats max magnification for me, unless you are a bench shooter.
Eye relief is a pet peeve, I like to drop my head down and not fish back and forth, so keep that in mind for your use.
I use rings without a quick release mount. Yes, I have one, and it is a repeatable zero for the most part. I just want to be low to the bore as much as possible.

Try different magnification and FOV for your usual ranges.
Should be enough guys on the rifle line that'll give you a peek.

                  I like a 3.5-10x40.
