    AW > featureless

    Hi Guys,

Quick question - if I register my ARs next year - keep them "evil" while I'm alive - then when I kick the bucket can my kids keep the ARs if they convert them to featureless?

    Thx

Once registered, they will always be RAW"S.

My M1 carbine will obviously not need registered. My others will. I'm old and the only one of my kids that wants them when I die, lives in Oregon. My son in So-Cal will have his own registered. I had an AK and Ar15 SP1 I registered in 1990, and nothing bad happened, except I sold them in 2000!

Bummer - sigh - what's the benefit of registering? Wouldn't featureless give you more options?

There's no way to "unregister" an aw?

Not presently, but wishful thinking is it could change in the future.

SO MUCH CRAP INFO ON HERE.

PLEASE DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU POST.

Assault Weapons and .50 BMG Quick Links to Topics General FAQs “Other” Assault Weapons Military Assault Weapons Bullet Button Assault Weapons General FAQs What is considered an assault weapon under California law? What are AK and AR-15 series weapons? What is considered a .50 BMG rifle under California law? Can assault weapons and .50 BMG rifles still be registered? I already paid the Dealer's Record of Sale (DROS) fee and went through a DOJ record check when I purchased the firearm. Does that satisfy the registration requirement?

Calgun owners need to stand for their right to protect themselves

If you are going to let a handful of high-paid uneducated people that make a living selling lies dictate your rights, you don't deserve to own even your own life. The only reason they can get away with this, is because all we will do is act as internet activists (which is not real activism).

                  This is their game plan:
Flood the governor with a bunch of ridiculous bills and what not, but carefully craft the real ones you want to pass.

The fact that they had to do this hiding shows that if this was put to the people, the overwhelming mass majority of these bills would have never passed. They always have to use some backdoor method to get these through. Its idiotic that a handful of people can dictate safety of millions. And they bank on our inaction to stay virtually inactive, because they know that all we are going to do is cry and moan, but eventually give up like we have time and time again. If we want our rights, leaving California is not an option. That will just motivate other states to do the same. We have to fire back and shut down the state government ourselves to let them know that enough is enough and that they can't interpret the second amendment to fit their agenda.

What fools like De Leon an Jerry are doing is the opportunistic equivalent of burning down an entire vineyard just because they found a couple bad grapes, even though it's clearly known that they don't like grapes in the first place.

                    That's not true.

I have a RAW, that is not banned by "name" so to speak. I should say, I had one.

I was able to un-register it as an assault weapon when I removed the "assault weapon" features. Which in this case, was added a bullet button. This was 6 or 7 years ago.

So, yes, it can be done. I've done it.

You cannot do it with an AR / AK that is banned by name, for obvious reasons.

All the value's in the upper. Once you pull off the flash hider or whatever you would just pop that onto a virgin lower. If you have a nice trigger you could move that over as well.

If the characteristics that make my firearm a category 3 assault weapon are removed, can I cancel the registration? Can I sell it as regular (non-assault weapon) firearm?

Yes. If the defining characteristics establishing a firearm as a category 3 assault weapon are removed, it is no longer an assault weapon and the registration may be canceled. However, once the registration is canceled, you can never replace the characteristic(s) that make it an assault weapon, or you will be in possession of an illegal weapon. To cancel an assault weapon registration, contact DOJ at (916) 227-2153. Once the registration has been canceled, the firearm can be sold or transferred like any other firearm (non-assault weapon).

Thanks guys - so after you crack your kids can keep the ARs by going featureless and taking them off the registered list...owning an AR in CA is a legal nightmare!

                            Wow

                            The naivety is mind-blowing.

Oh yes, you can un-register your RAW. And CA DoJ will take your name and all of your personal information - which it never, ever shared with the Feds - and delete it from the state database, completely. No really, they mean it. You can trust them, I swear.

Selling beachfront property in Kansas would be a breeze with some folks...
My ignore list is so big that sometimes, I will click on a thread and there's literally nothing there.

so here is my question and please don"t flame me for asking this question.so you go to a gun store here in california and you purchase a AR-15. you do the back ground check pay your DROS and wait the waiting period. correct me if i am wrong. so now the feds know of your purchase and also the state knows of this purchase. so now the california DOJ know that you have a AR-15 and is registered to you in their files. so why now do they want you to re-register but now as a asualt rife point is if they already know you have it why make you re-register it.i don"t own a AR but even a blind man can see the next step here is to confiscate them and everything else.after living in california for all my 68 years it looks like it is time to leave. iv"e wasted enough time makiing phone calls giving money try to stop all that has happened. it's time to enjoy my retirement some where else. good luck to you all.
                              Rick
