Well...then it would then be a grip and not a stock.

As it is, the grip portion of the stock, is just that....part of the stock. Just like a shotgun, or bolt action rifle.

You can transfer RAWs if you modify them to be featureless.

If the characteristics that make my firearm a category 3 assault weapon are removed, can I cancel the registration? Can I sell it as regular (non-assault weapon) firearm?

Yes. If the defining characteristics establishing a firearm as a category 3 assault weapon are removed, it is no longer an assault weapon and the registration may be canceled. However, once the registration is canceled, you can never replace the characteristic(s) that make it an assault weapon, or you will be in possession of an illegal weapon. To cancel an assault weapon registration, contact DOJ at (916) 227-2153. Once the registration has been canceled, the firearm can be sold or transferred like any other firearm (non-assault weapon).

What are AK and AR-15 series weapons? What is considered a .50 BMG rifle under California law? Can assault weapons and .50 BMG rifles still be registered? I already paid the Dealer's Record of Sale (DROS) fee and went through a DOJ record check when I purchased the firearm. Does that satisfy the registration requirement?

Could we cut off the Thordsen stock at that 1st screw right behind the grip and run a standard Magpul stock, pinned of course?

Has anyone done this? Got any pics?

Yes, it's long enough. I really like ACE stocks.

Get the longest ACE stock. !

Correct me if I'm wrong, but chopping the thordsen stock and using it as a grip would count as an evil feature.

                  +100 on the FRS stock.

I tried to run the grip wraps and a hammerhead during a couple of carbine classes, and they just sucked. The FRS on the other hand, runs just as fast as an un-neutered rifle.

I took an advanced 5 day class in Arizona last year, left my FRS on (everyone laughed at first), and ran in the top of the class with it (weren't laughing then). IMO, it is the best option for a featureless. An ambi safety makes it way easier to use.

It looks funky, I agree. But function is more important to me.

Is the "stock" portion of the FRS-15 necessary for compliance? I'm wondering if it were possible for someone else to make just the grip portion in case we wanted run other stocks such as an ACE stock.

Sigh....YES. The FRS-15 "stock".... Key word..."stock" is NOT a grip. If you cut off the "stock" portion...you now have....say it with me...a grip.

Does the angle make it a pistol grip??? Don't know. I am not a lawyer. My opinion is that it is no longer a stock and an uniformed LEO could say your running a pistol grip and no BB. So now you have a unregistered AW.

Will it hold up in court? Again...I do not know. But I would not want to waste my time and money making the state and a attorney richer just to find out. YMMV.

Just got my FRS last night. I have U-15's on 2 of my AR's.
Really like this. Will be on my next lower build. Glad I ordered it last Thursday!
To me featureless is the way to go.

What's involved in converting my A2 buffer to a carbine buffer?
If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. That's ridiculous!
If I have a gun, what in the hell do I have to be paranoid about?
