Well I just recieved my first CMP Garand (Greek service grade) a few days ago and overall I am very happy with it. My rifle does not have the cartouche that I see on others but it is painted with stenciled yellow paint on the right side of the stock. Does this mean that this stock was replaced at some time? Sorry I don't have pictures to post at this time.
I have yet to have the time to do a detailed strip of the rifle but I am really anxious to bring her to the range since I have this whole crate of greek ammo sitting here. I know most will say strip it down and clean every knook and cranny out before you hit the range, but do you think it would be acceptable to clean out the bore and action only with CLP before firing? Thanks for any help.
