Sun Devil 308 Lower

Good Day cCalgunners

So for my Bday my bro gave me a sun devil stripped 308 lower and DPMS lower parts kit(308)

I have built many AR15 but i know the 308 is a whole different animal

What I know
Sun Devil Lower is DPMS compatible Gen 1.

I am trying to figure out the Gen 1 vs Gen 2 and how that affects which upper I buy.

I was looking at Aero Precision M5E1 Complete upper but dont know if it will fit

Any help would be greatly appreciated

There are two types of DPMS gen 1 receivers one has a low profile rail and the other is a high profile rail. The lower rail is more common now. The gen 2 or GII is way different it has a slimmer overall size

All third party DPMS pattern 308 are based on the LR308 gen1. As far as I know, nobody else but DPMS makes the genII. There are some compatibility issues with some manufactures like Palmetto State Armory.
The Aero M5 upper should fit your lower just fine. Aero makes very good products at competitive prices.

^ This. The gen II is the new DPMS 308 that uses a smaller/shorter upper/lower receivers. DPMS only sells the gen 2 as a complete rifle.
No one else (as far as I know) has made any 80% or 100% receivers that is similar to the gen II.

While agree with the quality part I just wish those guys would start making things with an FA , I swear they sell one upper with an FA and thats it

I have a Sun Devil 5.56 billet set, excellent quality, one of the best I've seen.
