Hello everyone, looking at purchasing a WASR 10 and was wondering what is the current consensus on these? I know that they have had some issues in the past but from my research it seems that many of the initial problems have been ironed out. I also considered a Zastava M70 but didn't like that the furniture is somewhat proprietary. Thanks everyone.

..its a mass produced rifle in an arms factory..its built to last..it may have canted sights..fixable..everyone I have ever handled worked fine..like any rifle it may need some fine adjustments..there may be some cosmetic flaws..its a solid rifle..DDI also is making some pretty nice rifles..but you really cant go wrong with a WASR..but its your cash..go OPAP or WASR or DDI or SAIGA or VEPR..and you will find issues in any of them..but WASR rifles will usually work just finr about 98% of the time..07 FFL Farwest Photography

Had my wasr exactly a year to this day. Got mine from riflegear which was about $720 if I recall OTD. So far loving it and no issues encountered yet. It came with a sling, cleaning kit, 1 tapco mag.Comment

It's just me but the Opap would be my choice, I haven't hear of any issues with these. I leave the Yugo as is 'cause I never even think about putting assosories. The furniture it comes with is fine with me.Comment

I just bought mine about 3 weeks ago from Riflegear. Works great! No trigger slap, solid build/rivets, no cant, etc. I did a TON of research on these rifles before deciding on my purchase. From I gathered, most, if not all, of the previous problems the WASR-10 had are and have been long gone and I am 100% happy with my decision.
Also, I did the calculations, if you don't find an FFL that will do the transfer fee for a LOT less than the standard $75, you'll pay about the same price buying from Atlantic as you would if you were to buy one at Riflegear. Plus the bonus is you get to visually inspect the firearm before you buy it, which was really important to me.
Riflegear always has them in stock, and it's a great shop. Check them out (if you are in the area). If not and you have to get the firearm shipped anyway, Atlantic might be a better option.Last edited by SandBlastedSkin; 05-26-2016, 4:48 PM.Comment

Bought mine from another Calgunner. Sites are fine. I'm very happy with it - I did refinish all the wood though. Hated the original finish. Now it's a beautiful "commie" red. Lot's of helpful info on the web/youtube on refinishing the wood.Comment

The recent WASR rifles in late 2014 and 2015 have been a great rifle for the moneyComment

It is the best AK available in that price point. Don't buy any domestically manufactured AK rifle.sigpic
