PINNED flash hider on 16" and longer???

    I have a question, Calgunners...
I was led to believe that only barrels shorter than 16" had to have a pinned extended flash hider to meet the legal 30" length of the rifle.
and i thought that if your barrel was 16" already and met the 30" length mounted on a rifle, they didn't need to pin the flash hider.

someone just told me all 16" barrels are pinned with a flash hider too because the leftist libtards don't want you to unscrew the flash hider and screw on some "evil oil filter silencer."

can someone confirm this for me?
i always thought my Colt LE6920 didn't have a pinned flash hider but someone is telling me that it is.

To get to the FEDERAL barrel minimum muzzle devices must be pinned.

To get to the STATE 30" overall length requirement there is no permanence requirement.

A true 16" barrel does NOT need a pinned muzzle device. Only barrels shorter then 16". Whoever told you that doe not know what they are talking about...commonly known as spreading FUD.

        ^This is the correct answer.

Barrels over 16 inches on rifles do not have to have any muzzle device permanently attached.

Not to hijack the thread (it looks like you have your answer), but same question, AR pistol...

Does an AR pistol with a flash hider need to have the hider (or muzzle break) pinned?

No, a legal AR pistol does not have a detachable magazine so you can have a threaded barrel and not weld or pin the muzzle device.
