    AK jams in firefight ~

    A British fighter has his ak go down during a firefight, lucky for him he knows how to clear the broken shell that became stuck in the chamber.

    My brother was in in a close firefight with a NVA soldier in Viet Nam, when the NVA's AK jammed - it cost the NVA soldier his life.

    So, AK's can jam, as well as any other weapon used in SD / Combat; You should take the time to know how to deal with a primary going down, I know I'll start to think about it.

    yup- anything with parts can break... the AK is 1940's machining and technology....

    Why did these guys have captured / unknown AKs? Who checked the headspace? etc?

    Jam= breakage
    stoppage/ malfunction= clear with your hands
    Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

    Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

    Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

    Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

                Any weapon can jam given enough dirt/gunk. Add crappy old ammo, and yes it happens.

                I've seen AK47s dug up from the ground, hidden by South African poachers years ago, that could still fire after a little bit of motor oil was poured into the chamber and on the bolt.

                    Left to their own device, you'd be surprised what US Army dudes put on their own rifles. Tapco and NCStar out the wazoo.

                      But, but, but...everyone on CalGuns says that AKs are the most reliable rifles the universe has ever known. I'm so surprised.
                      sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

                        I thought AK's were the carps of centerfire rifles?
