    Ok. So if I was to have a 200 rd belt but the last 11 were dummies and stopped the belt from going below 11. I can then re link that belt back up?

      If you had that 200-round belt in CA before Jan 1, 2000, probably that would work.

      The further questions this generates are usually
      'how would that be detected?'
      'how would anyone prove otherwise?'
      and so on - interesting, but unanswerable as a hypothetical, and potentially freedom-limiting if the case might be tested in court.
