    VZ2008/VZ58 CA compliance

How do I make my VZ2008/VZ58 CA compliant other than getting some 10 round mags? I found some sources for bullet buttons for AR and AK, but not for my VZ rifle.

    Solar Tactical makes the maglock.

Are you out of state and coming/moving to CA?

Ca has a minimum length requirement that also has to be met. If you have a folding stock version, you will have to pin the stock or add a muzzle device to make sure the rifle is still 30"+ in it's shortest fireable config.

You'll need a maglock (solar tactical), but it will probably have to be modified slightly to not interfere with the trigger. You'll also need either a fixed stock, or to pin the folding stock. That can be done with a drill press and a small roll pin.

The Solar Tactical maglock is out of stock last I checked.

          Things to look out for:

16"+ barrel, the factory military VZ barrel is 15.5" I believe. Century installed 16" barrels I believe.

          10 round mags

          Mag Lock or Grip Wrap.

Welded open folding stock or fixed stock.

            Featureless

Make sure your barrel is 16"
            Original factory barrel is 14.7"

Folding stock is very easy to disable, a cut piece of copper tubing around the button interior will prevent it from being depressed. You can also get a beaver bark fixed stock off eBay for $30 or less. Without the folding ability the metal bar leaves MUCH to be desired so you may end up going that route anyway.

Solar tactical lock is functional but given its biased to the left versus the wide AK paddle a wrap may be preferred if you're ok with them. The release is pretty difficult to get to.

Isn't the 16" barrel a fed requirement (unless the rifle is a regd sbr) which would make it a requirement on both featureless and bb'd rifles both in CA and everywhere else?

If you have a pinned brake/FH then the barrel will meet the minimum of 16". With a VZ2008 you don't need to worry about that though.

All of the original imported 14.7" barrels used by CSA had muzzle thread protected pinned and welded to get to min. 16". Only an issue if you have an older CSA vz.58. No issue for the CAI vz2008.

Yes, I am from MD and might be moving to CA towards the second half of the year. I have a VZ2008 with the fixed stock. I guess, the only think I need to get are 10 round mags and the Solar maglock?

Solar tactical does runs on all their maglocks regularly. If it's out of stock right now, keep checking back. They'll be back in stock eventually.
