CMMG MK47 Mutant. How are they?

Does anyone have one of the CMMG MK47 Mutant rifles? I would like to know what current or past owners think of them because I really want one and would like a heads up before I spend that kind of money.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

My buddy does. Had a slight feed problem in the beginning, but now it shoots fine. I think he changed mags, runs pmags now.

One of the reason for AK47 reliability is the piston system. You're just buying a DI gun that shots the 7.62x39. Why.

If it was piston I would be all over it. I love the ergos and shooting one but pass on a 7.62x39 DI

I've thought about this too. The round and the AR platform foundation is appealing, but it's way too much money for an unproven AR variance with little field reports to go on. I would prefer the Sig 556xi Russian, but even that has issues. Either one is a great range gun, but I'd be hard pressed to rationalize bringing it to a real fight.

Kinda settled on 300 AAC for myself but still have an open mind. Id like a real commie gun, just not convenient with ppts or priced right when new for me.

I would just get a AK and modernize it with some Magpul furniture. I was considering the Sig but it seems to be plagued with problems. The Mutant seems nice but too pricey.

Picked mine up about a month and a half ago. Totally love it pretty accurate at 50 and 100 yards haven't gone the distance yet. Does not like 123 grain ammo 124 gtg.

I don't see the appeal of a cmmg mutual, it's DI and needs an ak mag lock... I think the ARAK-21 would be better

Well you see I have 8 AK47 platform rifles. I like them just fine, and shoot them fairly well even though I'm not the best shot in the world. And I find that some of them are more accurate than others. Now I already said I'm not the best shot in the world, but even so I get a much tighter group with my AR platform rifles than I do with my AK platform rifles. So when I saw the CMMG MK47 Mutant that combined the accuracy of the AR, with the dirt cheap and hard hitting round of the AK, it just made me want one. Now I know there are other AR's out there that fire the 7.62x39 round, but none of them use an AK magazine. To me it will be worth the money, but I know everyone has their own preferences. Hope I answered the question as to why.

Cool. I would guess it would be just as accurate as any AR rifle. I hope to get one soon.

                        That's the appeal

The fact that it is a DI system, on an AR platform rifle that shoots a 7.62x39 round is one of the things that appealed to me about this particular weapon. The fact that it takes the AK magazines and uses a bolt especially designed for the bigger 7.62 round only adds gravy to the grits.

I'm in the same boat, can't make up my mind if I want to put a deposit on the mutant or the SIG-716. Mutant takes Ak mags and "cheap" ammo, the Sig would get me back into reloading the 308 and I really don't want to. " ain't nobody got time for that"

Its a knock-off of Rhino Firearms...that actually runs.

I own the MK47 AKM2.. and having major issues with it cycling. Basically every other round is a failure to feed and it's been very frustrating. Have tried 10 round pmags and 30 round pmags (blocked to 10) with no luck so far. Only taken it shooting twice, but never had issues like this with a new rifle costing close to $2k. Definitely want to like the rifle, but it's been a challenge so far. I'm considering sending it back to CMMG or just selling it, but I plan to try a few more types of mags/ammo first. Could just be bad luck for me, but thought I'd share my experience.
