Featureless PTR - What muzzle brake??

Got my PTR 91 setup with a grip wrap from CG member munkeeboi. He did a great job!

Looking for some input on a brake for the rifle to finish it... its the new PTR with paddle mag release and 5/8x24 threads. I wanted to use the BCM Mod 0, but I was reading a thread where there was a concern it would still be seen as a flash hider in CA...

BCM is advertised as having flash reduction qualities

The tines on the front of that PWS are usually a sign it has flash suppressing capabilities

the part you cut out of the description "The FSC91 Tactical Compensator has all of the compensation of the standard PWS DNTC compensator combined with enough flash suppression to keep the flash out of your optics & line of sight."

Good catch. even if it's a gray area.....not worth the headache. I'll probably install it on mine but mine won't be featureless.

Thanks munkeeboi. Both of those would be exactly what I'm looking for. Forgot to mention Id prefer to keep the traditional HK look. Looks like those are all 15x1RH... My rifle has the new 5/8x24. Hopefully I can find one

BATFE opinions don't mean much for CA AW law. The fact they promote it's flash reduction immediately above the quote you cite should say stay away for CA featureless rifles.

We used the IGF HK brake for featureless on our PTR that duplicates the look of the original FH:

It definitly reduces muzzle climb & recoil. We have since converted our PTR to select fire and it still wears this brake.

I am using a manticore brake on my 51 - don't see any reason it wouldn't work out well for your rifle.

I use the IGF G3 style brake, keeps that original HK look.

I definitely like the IGF brake as well, to keep that HK look. I contacted IGF to see if they can make a 5/8x24 version for the newer PTRs. Might go with the Manticore night brake if that doesn't work out.

I don't know about new PTRs but as far as I know they are 15x1 RH (edit) just read the new ones from 1-1-2016 they are using a paddle for mag release instead of the usual button, and they are threading the barrels to 5/8"x24.

If you have a newer one (indicated by paddle release) and have the 5/8" threading then there are a million (more or less) options for you - in that case you shouldn't have any trouble finding a good setup.
