    STG58 vs Imbel

I'm not sure if there is much of a difference, but I have my choice of buying either a nice STG58 kit, or a like new Imbel kit. Which would you guys choose, if you had a choice, and why?
    Thanks

STG58 barrels are not chrome-lined (just chromed chambers).

        Imbel barrels are chrome-lined.

Just depends on what your perfer and what your intent is. Both are very good. If you prefer the plastic furniture go Imbel.

Here are the specifics from the sellers, maybe this will make a difference!

            For the STG
Dismantled from STG58 Austrian FAL Rifles, these rifle kits are the best quality we have seen! These are hand picked, excellent. Matching serial numbers. All parts included except receiver. Upper receiver parts are included. Bipod included. Stg metal handguards, carry handle, bipod folds into handguard. Limited supply left.

            For the IMBEL
All I have right now is one really nice purebred Imbel kit. All new arsenal replacement lower, barrel and many small parts. No ser#'s or markings at all. 6 US parts. All parts are new/like new. Original parking.

STG's were made by both FN and the Swiss & are generally known for the most accuarte FAL-type barrels. Imbel barrels may have chrome-lined barrels or chambers only. Compliance parts on the Imbel will save you ~$100.

The "best quality we have seen!" thing is very relative...get some pics.

Lurk on the FAL files for a while...see if anybody has comments pro/con on the sellers.

StG, StG, StG, StG... Imbel kits are not bad, but the Austrian Steyr -Daimler-Puch StG58 are just awesome. I have yet to see a bad kit. I picked up a few of the "as new" kits back in 1997. The barrels are not chrome-line but they are hammer forged and considered one of the best made.

STG's a great but a few years ago I got my hands on an Imbel kit with a heavy barrel. I had Larry Hirota put it together for me and parkarize it. I have to say I spent about $900 total and with good ammo it's accurate out to about 600 yards.... But the dog gone thing weighs about 17.5 pounds...

Here's what it looks like today.
