    Middle of Nowhere

Anyone know where one can shoot in the middle of nowhere? Or a good spot in the desert?

The middle of nowhere is hard to get to. I shoot at the south end of nowhere, less driving.

Typically it is ok to shoot on public land in non-incorporated areas away from buildings and roads. However, some places are designated shotgun only. Private land shooting is OK too as long as you have the land owner's permission. You'll need to stop by a BLM office somewhere and pick up some maps for your area to see where the public land spots are.

Wherever you go, try to find a place with a good backstop.

Depending on which direction you drive, the westside of nowhere may be closer.
Here's a map to the middle of nowhere:

What about in San Bernardino county ? Maybe Death Valley ?

I always wondered where I can shoot in peace, but I don't want trouble with the law.

              For San Bernardino County.

Consult this map. It's old, but it's what San Bernardino Couty has on their website.

Contact San Bernardino County Fish & Game Commission and ask them to release an updated map for the public. It's done but they haven't put it online or made new maps yet.

I called San Bernardino county about getting a map from them. They told me all there is is the online version which to me is pretty useless. It looks like there is a small area south east of Wrightwood by Lytle creek. But with this map it's too hard to figure out where it is exactly. Also it shows large areas south of Running Springs and Big Bear that says you can target shoot which conflicts with what the forest service says. The forest service says you can shoot in designated areas only but that shows you can shoot just about any where between Running Springs and Big Bear. Mark
