    First trip to the range

Well I finally took my first trip to the range with the new AR-15 yesterday. This is my first firearm and only my second time to a range. I ended up going to Rancho Cordova Shooting Center in Sacramento around 2:30 yesterday afternoon. They were VERY busy but also VERY friendly. I got some funny looks as I was waiting for the RO to check us in because of the "Evil Black Rifle" I just smiled and nodded at the onlookers

I set up at the 25 yard rifle bay and was immediately asked if my rifle was grandfathered in by a younger guy and his friends, probably all about 18 years old. I explained to him it was an OLL and that it had a bullet button, he was under the impression that the magwell had to be permanently fixed and you had to top load. I spent about 10 minutes explaining the legality of the rifle and told him to check out calguns.net. He seemed very excited and wanted to start a build himself. His father was also very friendly and introduced himself.

All in all it was a great day at the range, put 120 rounds down range. Even the RO was very friendly and told me that the day was going really smooth for the number of shooters they had out there and that he hadn't really had to get on anyone really hard so far.

Can't wait to get out there again, I am thinking about heading out tomorrow again possibly. I have tried my entire life to find a hobby and stick to it, I am happy to say I think I finally found one.

+1000 on that. Been there many times and you can take your weapons in cased! Much nicer facility and you can shoot beyond 100yds to boot. I would like to see if a few Sac area CalGunners would like to get together sometime in the next few weeks for a shoot there. Anybody game?

Once you shoot at Sac Valley, it is hard to shoot at any other range.
It is one of the best on the West Coast. They have over 25 shooting clubs using the range. Very well run. Worth the extra trip from Sacramento.
If you can't shoot good, at least look good shooting

I know. The place is very clean and also has a very friendly staff, what could be wrong about the place?
