    Mega Multi Lower

I just picked up 2 Mega Lowers that are marked MULTI for the caliber. I have seen this discussed in a couple of other threads, but see some disagreement on the actual truth. What calibers can be built around this lower? Looking forward to building them out!!! Thanks...

Make one a .50 Beowolf. Its awsome to shoot.
Let us hope our weapons are never needed --but do not forget what the common people knew when they demanded the Bill of Rights: An armed citizenry is the first defense, the best defense, and the final defense against tyranny. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military, the hired servants of our rulers. Only the government -- and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws."

You can build those (or any caliber-specific marked receivers) to any caliber you desire, except .50 BMG.

You can build them to any cartridge that will fit in the magazine that fits that size magwell opening from 17 rimfire up to 50 Beuwolf. You could build them to other non-prohibited cartridges (50 BMG, etc) that don't fit that mag length but you have to shoot them as a single shot.

I could have sworn I've read several times throughout these forums that, for example, you can't build a 308 set-up. Right?

Only because a .308 magazine wouldn't fit in the .223 length mag well. Of course, you probably could build a bolt action single shot .308.

What about splitting the receiver like that company did to fit many different calibers dont remember the name of the company however.

modular concepts or something like that.

MGI. Not that easy to do without proper engineering, plus I don't think they have all the bugs out of the .308 model.

MGI can't get any product in to work out bugs...

Also, their system is proprietary. If you use their lowers, you'll pretty much need to use only their uppers if you wish to have caliber interchangability.

Umm... It's a nice system. They're just having trouble with their contracted machine shop.

Contacted MGI a while ago - their secondary machine shop is nearly done, and supposedly the pre-order folks will be getting lowers shipped in the first part of August.
