7.1lbs for a 308 seems pretty good to me...

Anyway, if you don't like it don't buy it. Some people already have plenty of ARs and want something different.

MDR is the most beautiful gun ever!

My choice would be that 10.5" in 300 blackout
And a ton of pmags spitting out those black-tipped Barnes tac-tx 110's....if I weren't in CA, that is.
        Super handy and super capable.

That's a typo. If you notice, the .308 weighs less than the 5.56 and 300 BLK. Not possible.

I remember how excited I got when I saw the Tavor at show show a few years back. I was an early adopter. Tavor ended up being a piece of junk. MDR looks really cool, but I wont make the same mistake of buying into the hype before I actually get my hands on it and shoot it.

From what I understand, the 5.56 really is heavier because of the magwell insert. At least that's what I saw in one of the SHOT videos (I think it was Ian and Karl at InRange).

I handled one of the 5.56 MDR at Shot and it had some weight to the rear. It felt heavier than the tavor but it is purely subjective on my part.

There was a video that came out on the gun last year. They were testing the 5.56 version. But, IIRC, they said the .308 version was just over 8 pounds.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

                      Hi Jack,

"Q3 (2016) for the CA version" .....Thanks for the data. I am happy to wait if it means that DT will deliver top quality with the first production run. However, I am worried sick over the current round of pending anti-citizen legislation.

I am a bit of a collector so I take chances and have been very lucky so far. I like my Tavor and my KSG, RFB and MPX etc. I haven't had any problems with any of them and enjoy shooting them and owning them. I would take a chance on DT. They make some really top grade stuff so why not? If you don't like it you'll probably be able to sell it for what you paid. Or you lose a hundred bucks but get to shoot it awhile. No loss in my books. I may be a Guinea pig. Someone's gotta do it. Yeah everyone in here needs to tell everyone they know that is pro gun to oppose this legislation. I have friends that don't even know about it. We need to get the word out and oppose these bills vehemently. Which brings up the point if you have to register all your semi autos would you want one to be a MDR? Or would you possibly regret not buying the first run and miss out on ownership all together? Hmmmmm.

The price is a lot lower than I thought it would be when I first saw it. I think ~$2k is perfectly fair for a newly designed rifle of good quality. I wanted to ask them a few questions at SHOT but was snubbed by the rep when he found out I wasn't a FFL. The sample I handled felt good though; well-balanced, ergonomic, and not too heavy.

                            Double Dose,

Actually quite anxious that I will miss out. The MDR is the first rifle I feel I really have to have. So yes, would likely have the MDR as my only rifle period, even if I had to retgister it as an assualt weapon. (assuming the thing turns out as planed in terms of quality, relability, accuracy....)

I love DTI products. They are awesome. I can't wait to see it when it is "on the shelf."

For the money, I'd rather save a few hundred and get an ACR (basic) or spend a little more and get a SCAR (16 or 17).

I'm always worried a bullpup is going to blow up right next to my face. But that's just me and my opinion.
