    Extractor spring worn out???

Went to Angeles range with my two friends on Sunday. I've noticed that both of their brass spits out at 4 o'clock position, my came out at 2 o'clock position. Is this a sign of worn out extractor spring worn out? I have Young Mfgr NM bolt and carrier, round counted at 700. Thanks

extractor springs dont wear out that fast, you should start thinking about it at around 3k. different brands of ammo, different inserts or different strength extractor springs will make rounds eject differently

Why did you buy a Young's chromed carrier?

All they do is wear out upper receivers.

It's a standard practice with NRA Highpower shooters to "cut" the ejector spring/trim the ejector so that shell casings eject at the 1 O'clock position.

This eliminates the chance that the ejected case will hit/interfere with other shooters. While not reccomended for tactical applications, I haven't had any problems in doing this.

As stated, different spring compression rates and ejector lengths can and will cause the case to eject at different angles.

As long as the case is clearing the ejection port, I don't see any problem.

Why would Young's chrome carrier wears out the upper receiver faster compare to other's carrier, given all upper receivers would wear in time?

Young's N/M carrier is several thousandths larger in diameter, leaving less room for the normal debris clearance of the original design.

Is there a reason for this, Randy? More precision?

                    Yes.
To remove some of the clearances.

I don't necessarily see it as an actual advantage though.
It's one of those "perceived" advantages...
