Alternatives to PSA or Sale Intervals?

I just purchased a PSA lower, and was looking for an upper but turns out most everything is out of stock. There are a few uppers, a stainless mid-length (was reading that stainless isn't as good as chrome moly? unless I'm shooting distance or competition?) and a PTAC upper w/o BCG or CH (looks stripped w/o forward assist and dust cover?).

The rest seems to have dried up. Are there any other alternatives to PSA in that quality/price range? If not, do any of you know how often PSA runs sales? Is it every few months or so or like twice a year kind of a thing?

edit. Would the stainless one listed here http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-1...ut-bcg-ch.html work for a mostly range plinker or SHTF? or should I wait out for a chrome moly barrel?

Psa is usually running sales all the time. Uppers OOS is due to the current climate and black friday.

All the time sounds promising, I suppose I'll wait then.

No oos is due to the crazy black Friday week sales they had. Op I'd suggest you get that upper linked above. You won't find anything cheaper and it's pretty decent quality. Ss barrels are great and will make for a very fun paper shredder at the range.

PSA had regular sales on uppers but not that cheap. Normally that upper would be closer to $279.99 on sale.

I guess my concern is with the stainless barrel. If that is a problem for the kind of shooter I am or not? Stainless is fine for range mostly and will last long?

Also, they just sold a crap ton of stuff for the black friday sale. I'd guess they are backlogged due to that as well. They build to order a lot of their uppers.

I have bought plenty of parts from DS Arms including barrels, bcg, lower parts, they have prices competitive with PSA on some of their upper assemblies. They are more known for their FAL clone rifles but manufacture lots of ar15 parts. I would suggest calling before ordering, I've ordered something that says in stock and then found out it was on back order.

They have been in and out of stock for 2 weeks.

Go to Gunbroker and look for a some of the Hardened Arms uppers. You should be able to get one for about 200.00.

I bought a pistol upper from them a few years ago. I came with a YHM rail. (the gas system did need some adjustments)
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Stainless is fine. You can find information detailing the pros and cons. The cons, I think you'll find, won't apply to you or most shooters for that matter.

That upper you linked was $199 for awhile, I purchased the same upper/barrel but with the MOE furniture for $219.

I have that same upper with a 1:9 twist, and it is good to go. I would buy that upper if I needed another one right now without question.

Some of the Calguns tip of the spear operators who regularly infil / exfil into hot zones like Burro or Angeles will give a thumbs down to the stainless barrels. They cannot afford less than pinpoint accuracy while shooting, moving, and communicating in such environments. Rust is also a concern when traversing rapidly changing climates (i.e. air conditioned Jetta to direct sunlight and back).

For the rest of us, stainless and basically any other PSA components work fine.
