Calgunners,
I'm working on a 308 build. Trying to decide between getting a threaded barrel vs not threaded. Will only be used for bench shooting, paper at 100yds, steels up to 600-1000. But I want this sucker to be as accurate as can be, given that it's semi-auto, and not a bolt action. I won't be shooting in any competitions with this build. Just for my own enjoyment.
I like the option of putting some sort of muzzle device on it, but I probably won't for a long time (unless the consensus is that I have to have a muzzle device to maximize accuracy--then this question is moot and I'm getting it threaded).
Would you guys recommend a threaded barrel and I throw a thread protector on it, or just purchase the barrel w/o thread, and thread it later if I decide to put a muzzle device on it? Accuracy concerns for either option?
Thanks in advance.
