I'd will someday! Took my 7.62 in for a trade eval and was offered half of what I needed for a trade to work.

Might try selling it on here again, will see. Maybe some with a 308 wants a 7.62

Everybody wants a compact 308 carbine (and why wouldn't they?). And anybody who wants precision isn't buying Saigas anyways... Which is why 16" models sold out months and months before the longer models.

Same thing with VEPRs. Damn I wish I had gotten a 16" 308 VEPR when they were still available. Oh well
I wasn't looking for one but it is. With 150gr Norma it'll do 1" from the bench (with different optic).

        Keep the 7,62x39

Its just not a great thing to get rid of a russian 7,62 gun right now. I think its something youd regret.

Since you have 2, why not keep one for a down the road project rifle? So much can be done to a saiga.

Nice! But how ever did you get the Krebs UFM rail to fit on the 308 Saiga? I contacted Krebs a few weeks ago and asked if it would fit and they were certain that it would not.

1" from the bench.......... at the 25m pistol line. Its important to clarify that. Otherwise it makes it seem like youre being dishonest.

              ^

Who measures rifle accuracy at 25 pistol line? You? Did I anywhere state that? Did you see me shooting?
25yd is to initially get a optic on target, that is all I use 25 yard range for.

I use one of these to make sure there's no room for my error and it's consistent 1". Without it its still the same or pretty close to it.

As to your assumption, ever since you been on this forum 90% of your assumptions are just that, trolling & talking out of your ___. You actually believe that if someone post a pic of their target its a prof of actual range, ammo, rifle etc? Don't worry, I don't loose sleep over what you assume or believe.

              If there's a will there's a way.
The handguard is made for Vepr.
I used two separate mounting points instead of one.. I used metal shims on both of them. The first mounting ring was actually made for CSS handguard, it fit perfect with very little mod.
Entire set up is rock solid and it's actually more secure than original configuration.

lol you beat me to it, although I thought 7.62x39 took the same bullets as 7.62x51.

I always thought the .311 thing was just because rifling and machining tolerances aren't as tight in Russia (or they weren't back in the day anyways) Im guessing I was wrong about that?

Great job! I had thought about trying to do that after seeing the item on CSS about a month ago, but in the end the cost of the project and not knowing if it would work made me decide to go with the DPH Arms tri-rail.

Which ring did you go with?

I have both the Saiga X39 and the X51

I would build an AR10 instead of a Ak -308

The AR10 variants are hands down a better gun IMHO.

I'd keep the 7.62x39. Like others have mentioned I'd build an ar-10 instead of going for the Saiga .308

Thanks, I used a large one (I though there's only one large version) with some fabricated shims. Small one won't fit barrel diameter as it's made for x39.
DPH rail might be nice but I bet it weights a lot more than Krebs. I had CSS rail and it was considerably heavier.

As to AR vs Saiga, all matter of opinion and IMO AR offers nothing better, both are same on accuracy and both are can be customized to preference. I take AK action and simplicity over AR anytime.

With my 16" 308 it seems like the additional powder just leaves the barrel as a still burning fireball. I would be curious to chrono it and see if that bullet's going any faster than a 7.62x39, It's cool to shoot at night though.

So just to clarify (because you didnt) does your .308 saiga shoot 1" groups or "pretty close to it"(lol) at 100M? I dont need pics, your word is good enough for me.
