Buffer question

I ordered the following:
Magpul MOE Original Equipment Carbine Mil Spec, Complete Assembly

my question is about "carbine" in the name.

Am I fine to use a mid length upper, or do I need to stick with the carbine length?

This was an impulse buy that i didn't really think through. damn BRD.


Edit: I should just be able to swap the spring and buffer if I want to run a ML upper right?

It only applies to the tube/spring/buffer. You can use it just fine on a midlength-gased upper.

Midlength is ideal

I've used a 24" bull barrel upper on a carbine setup lower with no problems.

As mentioned it has nothing to do with the gas system, just the receiver extension type.

You're fine. Just use the regular carbine buffer.

I've done some reading on this for the past hour or 2 for my next build (mid-length). So for and in addition from this thread, I gathered doesn't matter what stock you put in since it's about balance. For example, carbine stock on a 20" build though looks funny.

But I also read that somewhere that due to the high pressure of a carbine, you're BCG takes a beating. Doesn't that mean appropriate stock/buffer/spring combo? Like a carbine buffer system for a carbine build? (I'm assuming the short spring have tension/stiffness and heavier buffer for considerations?).

I guess my question is "aren't there at least some considerations to the buffer system" on what you're building. Mind you I already have a CTR on a carbine build and works fine. I was a little concerned putting a Vltor Carbine EMOD on a mid-length given the length of the buffer tube/buffer/spring. It'll be a 16 incher (though not sure if I want 18 for possible 3-gun in the future). I'm sure it'll be fine as many others have said in other threads. I cant' get out of my head that you're losing a little something with a short buffer/spring on a middy. Maybe I'm stuck on too much analysis paralysis here.
